Welcome to our space
A dentist in a medical coat shows a small object to another woman sitting in a reclining chair, surrounded by the sleek, white interiors of the Smilestories Maine examination room.

Growing up, my mother, sister, and I had the same hair stylists for as long as I can remember. It was always an event to go get our hair done - cut, colored, and blown out to perfection. We loved going. We adored the relationships we had with our stylists - they even came to my wedding after all those years, and we loved how they made us feel. They invariably took exceptional care of us.

The name of the salon was Hairstories.

As I grew my dental career, I came to realize that a high-end salon and cosmetic dental practice are similar in many aspects; perhaps most especially that people come to you for help. We all want a boost to our self-esteem and confidence - to feel good about how we look, how others perceive us, and often times to “fix” issues that came as a result of less than perfect treatment elsewhere. There’s always a story.

This is how I came to imagine Smilestories. Why can’t going to the dentist be as exciting as going to get your hair done? Why can’t you leave with that same level of confidence (if not more confidence) than a good blowout provides? Not all hair stylists provide the same quality of work - is dentistry any different? It’s not.

A note from Dr. Ahern...
A business card for "Smile Stories Maine Dentist" is displayed next to a vase of pink flowers.

And I want to be at the foundation of my patient’s Smilestory. I want them to be excited about how they will feel after their appointment, and know that they could not possibly receive better, more personalized care anywhere else. I want Smilestories to be relationship based -- where people are excited to share their experiences with friends and family. And that is how Smilestories was born - everyone has a story, and I want to help make it a great one.

Let’s write your smile story together!

See you soon,
Dr. Ahern
